Trainee recruitment

We recruit between four and six trainees each year, ensuring that every individual receives comprehensive training. Our aim is to ensure that all trainees will become highly competent as newly qualified solicitors, confident in their ability to meet client demands using the skills acquired.

We recruit around one year in advance of the commencement of your training contract and we are focused on providing a supportive environment in which your talents can flourish. Each trainee completes four seats during their training contract, enabling them to experience a wide variety of work and to explore different practice areas. We believe this model enables every trainee to understand enough about the breadth of work that is possible and to start the journey to be a successful and commercially astute adviser, able to service the needs of an entrepreneurial client base.

The training contract focuses on learning about practical applications of the law and building connections in each seat. Trainees also learn about the expectations of our clients and the different sectors in which we advise. A dedicated supervisor is allocated to trainees in each seat, who oversees their workload and provide feedback.

You will be guaranteed a valued role within the firm where you will very quickly engage with our clients. You will be expected to notice, articulate the case for change, and potentially lead improvements to our working practices. You will find that everyone has a voice and we will work hard to ensure you find and develop yours.

As for benefits we aim to differentiate ourselves on the basis of the enjoyment of your work and your time with us. We operate a hybrid work environment where you will be expected to work hard as well as engage in the cultural life of the firm. You will have the chance to take part in various competitive events within the firm (recently that has involved our sports day, quiz nights and cake baking). You will be paid a market rate together with benefits including a health plan, 25 days holiday, pension contribution and participation in our wellness programe.

We aim for 100% retention rate across the trainees we take on each year. Applications will open in the autumn of the year prior to a September start date. You will be expected to have completed your SQE or LPC exams by the time you start with us.
